When President Donald Trump started calling members of the mainstream American media “enemies of the people,” they collectively lost their minds.
However, as we have learned throughout his first term, the president is usually right. And his characterization of the establishment press as an institution filled with America-hating Leftists, Marxists and Communists was spot-on, as they themselves demonstrated over the Independence Day weekend.
One hate-filled story after another was filed on network after network as correspondents and hosts blasted President Trump’s Friday speech at Mount Rushmore, a site they claim is “sacred ground” white supremacists “stole” from the Lakota Sioux tribe in the 1800s.
On Monday, MSNBC host Willy Geist brought on Yamiche Alcindor, a pretend ‘White House correspondent’ for taxpayer-supported PBS, to talk about how the president appeared at the national monument beneath two “slave-owning” presidents, as noted by Newsbusters.
“What the president is doing is positing himself as against this idea there should be a rethinking of American history. He said in that speech, at Mount Rushmore, under the statue of two slave owners, under Theodore Roosevelt, who was pushing for the expansion in the West, including the desecration of Native lands,” she said. “He’s saying we can’t see the facts of our founders and seek to do away with this myth of America that everyone on July 4th that everyone was created, treated equally. That’s not true.”
First of all, Mount Rushmore also features a bust of the president who emancipated the slaves — Abraham Lincoln. Secondly, Roosevelt was an environmental who sought to preserve nature, not ‘desecrate Native lands.’
But of course, she wasn’t challenged and she’s never going to be on MSNBC (or CNN/ABC/NBC/CBS/Etc.). And she won’t appear on a program where a more knowledgeable host would challenge her.
Then Geist responded, “This has been the President’s view of the movement for social justice for a couple of months now since George Floyd’s death, it was a put out in stark and sometimes stunning terms by the President but he looked at the movement as Yamiche said as agitators, as Antifa, he’s looking at the looters, he’s looking at the subsection of larger movement of people asking to be treated fairly and equally in this country as they have not been for 400 years.”
That is completely and factually untrue, but again, these people make these hateful, blatantly incorrect allegations in forums where they will not be challenged and fact-checked on the spot. Never mind all of the progress we’ve made as a society in just the past 100 years; it’s never enough for these radical America-haters. (Related: Trump won, and the liberal media LOST THEIR MINDS.)
There’s more.
After several media outlets including ABC, MSNBC, The New York Times, and Washington Post badly distorted portions of the president’s Mount Rushmore speech to fit their ‘racist’ ‘bigot’ narratives, Trump noted in a speech the following day that he wanted to “say a word to those in the media who falsely and consistently label their opponents as racists, who condemn patriotic citizens who offer a clear and truthful defense of American unity.”
While most Americans “want a clear and faithful defense of American history…unity,” the president continued — in speaking to the media — “when you level these false charges, you not only slander me, you not only slander the American people but you slander generations of heroes who gave their lives for America.”
He then essentially called these jerks spineless wimps, noting that Americans who built, then fought and died for, the country are “much braver and more principled than you.”
“You slander them. You are dishonoring their great legacy and their memory by insisting that they fought for racism and they fought for oppression. They didn’t fight for those things. They fought for the exact opposite. We will not let the legacy of these heroes be tarnished by you,” Trump added.
